This page enumerates the evaluation of activities and projects in various Districts through FDAs and NGOs and also describes the activities and initiatives for Awareness raising.

5.     EVALUATION AND MONITORING

 

5.1   Evaluation of Success of Afforestation and Tree Planting Activities in Jajpur and Ganjam districts, Orissa

 

The field evaluation in respect of success of afforestation and tree planting activities undertaken during 2004-2005 in Jajpur and Ganjam districts of Orissa has been completed and the reports in respect of two districts have been submitted..

 

5.2   Evaluation of Success of Afforestation and Tree Planting Activities in Kolkata district, West Bengal

 

The evaluation of afforestation and tree planting activities undertaken during 2005-2006 in Kolkata district, West Bengal was done and the report was submitted to NAEB.

 

5.3   First concurrent evaluation of projects under National Afforestation Programme (NAP) being implemented through Forest Development Agencies (FDAs)

 

The mid-term evaluation reports in respect of NAP projects being implemented through Nayagarh FDA, Angul FDA, South Sikkim FDA, West Sikkim FDA, Phulbani FDA, Sundergarh FDA and Sambalpur FDA have been submitted to NAEB.

 

5.4   Evaluation of Afforestation Projects under Grant-in aid to Voluntary Agencies being implemented through NGOs

 

The evaluation of the afforestation projects undertaken by two NGOs, viz., (i) Integrated Rural Welfare Institute, Midnapur and (ii) Liberal Association for movement of people, Kolkata, West Bengal was completed.

 

6.     AWARENESS RAISING

 

6.1   Awareness raising and celebration of World Forestry Day 2008 by organizing Inter-school Debate / Essay competition on role of forest on Climate change

 

The Regional Centre celebrated the World Forestry Day on 21st March, 2008 by involving the students of all the Central Schools in and around the Shillong City.

 

6.2   Success Stories with Video Documentation

 

i)     Documentation of the process, preparation of video film, preparation of success stories, publication of the related material for SMFE

The video documentation of the processes in SMFE is in progress.

 

6.3   Success stories of JFM programme in North-Eastern states           

                                                          

The success of Umtngam JFMC in Ri-Bhoi district is being documented as a success story of JFM in Meghalaya. The data collection has been done and the document is being finalised.
