2. ORGANISATIONAL SET-UP

The Regional Centre, NAEB will function through a Core Group comprising the Coordinator as the Head, and two faculty members drawn from the appropriate fields of specialization with a prior concurrence of the NAEB. These members of the Core Group will not be permanent employees of the Regional Centre. The Regional Centre will not engage any faculty/staff on a permanent basis. The activities of the Centre should be supported by project based personnel.
To facilitate the work of the Regional Centre, there will be an Advisory Management Committee (AMC) comprising the followings:
i. Two representatives of NAEB, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, New Delhi
ii. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests of the seven north-eastern states, or their representative not below the rank of Chief Conservator of Forests or the Conservator of Forests
iii. Chief Conservator of Forests of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, or his nominee
iv. Three/four persons which may include NGOs, distinguished in areas relevant to afforestation and eco-development
v. Vice-Chancellor, North-Eastern Hill University (Chairman)
vi. Coordinator, Regional Centre (Convener) (Annexure I)
Besides the Core Group, the Centre has its own research staff and supporting administrative staff (Annexure-II). The Centre also utilizes the expertise available with the faculty of the University for conducting various problem-specific studies. The Centre has a computer based data processing and storage facility. As and when required, the Centre utilizes laboratory facilities available in different departments of the NEHU for analytical/experimental purposes.
