5. EVALUATION AND MONITORING
5.1 Evaluation of success of afforestation and tree planting activities
The field evaluation in respect of success of afforestation and tree planting activities undertaken during 2008-2009 in Dhenkanal, Angul and Bolangir districts of Orissa have been completed and the reports have been submitted to NAEB.
5.2 Evaluation of afforestation programme being implemented through Forest Development Agencies (FDA)
Like the previous years, the NAEB has given the responsibilities to this Regional Centre of First Concurrent Evaluation of Projects under five FDAs (i.e. Baragarh, Bonai, Ghumsur (North), Kalahandi (North) and Baripada) in Orissa. The field survey including data collection, introduction with the VSS members and Forest Officials have been completed during the month of January and February, 2010.
5.3 Screening and Evaluation of applications for Indira Priyardarshini Vriksha Mitra (IVPM) Awards 2008
This year also the NAEB, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, entrusted this Centre with the responsibility of Screening and Evaluation of applications for IVPM Awards 2008 in the northeastern States of India. Seven applications were received by the Centre (Assam-5, Meghalaya-1 and Tripura-1). After screening of the applications, evaluation was conducted in respect of the activities carried out by the 3 applicants from Assam (2 under Individual government servant Category, 1 under Joint Forest Management Committee Category) and 1 from Tripura under Institutions/Organization under Government Category. The reports were submitted to the Ministry.
